The Embrace
Sculpture in wood, 3m large and 14m heigh, 2026
Saint-Pierre Colamine, in the Sancy Mountains for Horizons Arts-Nature
Assisted by Laurent Espiasse
Made with dead trunks, The Embrace is a monumental sculpture that creates the illusion of a tree composed of several trunks twisting around one another until they form a living knot. These intertwined trunks embody the solidarity of the living world, the invisible connections between plant species, the networks of mutual support and communication that shape the life of forests. The trunks appear to both support and protect one another. The embrace they form evokes not only the cohesion of the living world, but also the invisible bonds that connect all beings within an ecosystem.
